Pramana – Journal of Physics is a scholarly journal in physics published by the Indian Academy of Sciences in connection with the Indian National Science Academy and the Indian Physics Association. It publishes refereed papers on research, brief reports, as well as invited reviews. It also has special issues devoted to current topics and reports on selected conferences. The journal is a monthly and contains about 2500 pages per year. There are no page charges for authors, and 50 free reprints are provided to article writers. A co-publishing arrangement with Springer has been made to facilitate distribution.
The first issue in July 1973 contained an article on nemetic liquid crystals by Sivaramakrishna Chandrasekhar and N. V. Madhusudan, who is now an associate editor.
